no, but for real, Drinking Buddies was one of my favorite movies of last year and it’s such a good movie and it’s even better when you find out that THE ENTIRE MOVIE WAS UNSCRIPTED AND THE ACTORS JUST IMPROVISED EVERY SINGLE MOMENT OF THAT MOVIE AND WHEN THEY DRINK AND “ACT DRUNK” THEY ARE ACTUALLY REALLY DRUNK AND STILL ACTING
As far as I've seen/been told, Kate doesn't acknowledge or accept America's assertion that she's "not that straight." However, I'm seeing people begin to call YA an "all queer" team. Do you have any thoughts on that? As a queer person myself, it bothers me a little because Kate herself states that she is straight. We don't see her redacting that. Was that scene intended as a coming out for Kate or an opening for maybe a future coming out handled by other authors?
I was going to save this for the notes, but as that may be a while, probably worth saying something.
One of the things in Young Avengers (and life) is that every character has got to define their sexuality in the manner of their choosing. In this area, one person doesn’t get to tell another person who they are. Kate has said she’s straight. At least at the moment, as Kate says she’s straight, she’s straight.
As such, America teasing Kate’s somewhat charmingly naive response to discovering she’s a minority on the team is America teasing. You can all decide how much seriousness there is beneath America’s baiting on your own.
Clearly none of this negates anyone’s fan theories about Kate. As if I would even try to do such a thing.
